Burjanadze Criticizes Shevardnadze, Calls for United Opposition
(Tbilisi. April 16, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Speaking in the live broadcast of Rustavi 2 TV channel on April 15 Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze called for united opposition.
?The joint actions of the opposition parties would be the only way to reach a success in the upcoming Parliamentary elections and secure the democratic and fair elections,? Parliamentary Chairperson said.
Nino Burjanadze also criticized President Shevardnadze for proposing the new rule of composition of the Central Election Commission (CEC), which, she said, will create the pro-Presidential CEC.
She also criticized the new pro-Shevardnadze election alliance. ?I do not see myself together with the politicians, who lead the newly established election alliance,? Nino Burjanadze added.
