Zhvania Urges Opposition to Unite
(Tbilisi. April 18, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Leader of the United Democrats Zurab Zhvania calls the opposition parties to unite on the eve of the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
?In case of formation of the opposition alliance I am ready to say no to leadership of the alliance and be the last in the election list,? Zurab Zhvania said.
?It is high time to take aside our disagreements and cooperate,? he added.
Zhvania also said that the United Democrats are actively consulting with other opposition parties ? National Movement, the New Rights and Traditionalists.
He also said that the United Democrats hold talks with Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze as well.
Nino Burjanadze confirmed on April 17 that she is actively engaged in talks with different opposition political parties for cooperation; however she refrained to name them.
