US Envoy, Opposition Leader Discussed Elections

(Tbilisi. April 29, 2003. Civil Georgia) – US ambassador in Georgia Richard Miles met with the leader of the opposition United Democrats party Zurab Zhvania today.

The upcoming Parliamentary election, scheduled for late October, was the top issue discussed during the meeting.

?I expressed my concern regarding the government?s proposal on composition of the Central Election Commission, which I regard as undemocratic,? Zurab Zhvania told the reporters after the meeting with the US envoy.
