Rcheulishvili Called the Fighting Incident a Pre-planned Provocation

(Tbilisi. May 6, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Vice-Speaker of the Parliament and the leader of the Socialist Party Vakhtang Rcheulishvili called yesterday’s fighting incident in the Parliament a pre-planned provocation. Rcheulishvili himself and United Democrat’s representative Zaza Sherazadashvili were injured in the incident. Rcheulishvili believes that United Democrats were intending to deteriorate the situation with the incident.

“They know that they do not have power any more, but it is impossible to win by chaos or civil war. That is why they do not hesitate to use any mean, but I will not let them reach their goal” – Rcheulishvili said in an interview to Rustavi 2 TV.

The United Democrats dismiss Rcheulishvili’s accusations. “We hoped that he would apologize for insulting us, but he did just the opposite” – Zuran Tskitishvili, representative of the United Democrats said.

Prosecutor-General Nugzar Gabrichidze said that his office is investigating the incident and promised that all guilty will be prosecuted.
