National Movement Says the Labor in Alliance with the Government

(Tbilisi, May 20, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Leader of the National Movement faction of the Parliament Koba Davitashvili said the Labor Party is in a covert alliance with the government.

Davitashvili claimed that the Labor Party is trying to achieve extension of mandate of the majoritarian MPs until 2005, thus acting in favor of the current government.

At today’s session of the Parliament, the Labor Party put on the agenda discussion of the amendment to the Constitution, regarding change of administrative-territorial structure of the country after 2005, i.e. the Presidential elections, which automatically means extension of the majoritarian MPs’ mandates for two more years.

During the voting for the agenda, the pro-governmental factions supported discussion of the issue, giving Davitashvili another reason to believe that the Laborers are allied with the government.
