Shevardnadze to Attend Informal Summit in St.-Peterburg

(Tbilisi, May 29 2003, Civil Georgia) Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze will leave for St.-Peterburg on May 30 to participate in the festivities dedicated to the 300th anniversary of St.-Petersburg, a source from the State Chancellery of Georgia told Civil Georgia. 

Simultaneously, he will attend an informal summit of the CIS leaders, during which, according to   Alexander Yakovenko, spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, the participants will discuss the presence of Russian peacekeepers in the conflict area until one of the sides declares against.  Yakovenko claimed, that the agreement had been achieved between the Russian, Georgian Presidents on March 6-7 in Sochi.
