(Tbilisi, May 31 2003, Civil Georgia) Leader of the Tbilisi-based Abkhazia government in exile Tamaz Nadareishvili confirmed that the Abkhaz issue was discussed at the informal summit of the CIS leaders in St.-Petersburg yesterday.
“The sides reached verbal understanding concerning the extension of Russian peacekeepers’ mandate in Abkhazia, however no official document was signed”, – Tamaz Nadareishvili says.
He goes against the extension of Russian peacekeepers’ mandate, saying this does not represent Georgia’s interest.
Russian peacekeepers’ mandate in Abkhazia expires in late June.
