International Organization for Migration to Assist IDPs from Abkhazia
(Tbilisi, May 31 2003, Civil Georgia) The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is ready to assist the IDPs from Abkhazia. Under the preliminary agreement with Georgian Special Affairs Minister Malkhaz Kakabadze, the IOM representatives paid a fact-finding visit to the breakaway region of Abkhazia.
The organization intends to foster the return of IDPs to their native land.
As the Georgian Foreign Ministry reports, the IOM is ready to implement the economic development project in the regions of Zugdidi, Gali and Ochamchire, as well as to open an interim office in Abkhazia.
