(Tbilisi, June 14 2003, Civil Georgia) – The Vake-Saburtalo court in Tbilisi rejected on June 14 the appeal of the Tbilisi Prosecutor?s Office regarding the three-month pre-trial detention of Giorgi Gvichiani, the financial manager of AES-Telasi, the US company, which distributes electricity in Tbilisi. He was set free on bail through the mediation of several Georgian MPs.
The police arrested Gvichiani on June 11. He faces charges for the financial fraud.
Ignacio Iribarren, executive manager of AES-Telasi, protested on June 13 against the arrest of the company?s financial manager, claiming he was innocent.
