Parliament Fails to Discuss Abkhaz Issue
(Tbilisi, June 20, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The Parliamentary session today planned to discuss issue of Abkhaz conflict settlement however MPs expressed protest regarding the absence of high-ranking officials from the executive government at the discussion.
MPs demanded participation of all the members of the government, while only Special Affairs Minister and Deputy Interior and Deputy Foreign Ministers attended the session.
The Parliament is urging the executive government to present to the MPs the plan of actions aiming at settlement of the Abkhaz conflict since January 2003.
The Parliamentary faction Abkhazia, which is composed with the representatives of the Abkhaz government-in-exile, refuses to participate in the discussion of any other issue, until the Abkhaz problem is not discussed.
