Restoration of Railway Link via Abkhazia Discussed in Tbilisi

(Tbilisi, June 25, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The Russian governmental delegation led by Deputy Railway Minister Vladimir Sazonov will arrive in Tbilisi on June 26-27 to discuss the issue on restoration of the railway link between Russia and Georgia via Abkhazia.

The details of the Sochi agreement regarding the restoration of the railway link will be discussed at the meeting.

The agreement in Sochi was reached between the Presidents of Russia and Georgia on 7 March 2003. It considers restoration of the railway link between Russia and Georgia via Abkhazia, rehabilitation of power facilities and safe return of IDPs to the Gali District.
