Burjanadze, Kocharian Discussed Upcoming Elections, Abkhaz Issue
(Tbilisi, June 28, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Chairperson of the Georgian Parliament Nino Burjanadze during the meeting beyond the closed doors today discussed upcoming Parliamentary elections in Georgia, Abkhaz conflict and issue of reopening Armenian-Russian railway link via Georgia.
?Robert Kocharian expressed great interest regarding the elections in Georgia. I informed him about the pre-election situation in the country and regarding the positions of the political parties on election code,? Nino Burjanadze told the reporters after the meeting with the Armenian President.
Burjanadze also said that the Armenian President expressed readiness to facilitate Abkhaz conflict settlement. ?He [Kocharian] underlined importance of reopening of the railway link [between Russia and Georgia, via Abkhazia],? she added.
