NATO Delegation Visits Georgia
(Tbilisi, July 9, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Delegation of the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Programme Management Organization arrived in Tbilisi on a two-day official visit on June 8.
Today the NATO delegation organizes an air show, during which an Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) radar plane will fly over the Georgian capital for an hour.
As the Georgian Defense Ministry reports, such planes are used only for controlling the situation in the military conflict zones and Georgia will have the right to use this plane only after the accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
The NATO delegation met with the Georgian Defense Minister Davit Tevzadze and Chief of the General Staff Joni Pirtskhalaishvili on June 8.
