New Minister of Construction Appointed
(Tbilisi, July 17, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The Parliament approved Teimuraz Charkviani’s candidature on the post of the Minister of the Construction and Urbanization today.
Last December Parliament adopted a bill on restructure of the executive government with the first hearing, considering the cancellation of the Ministry of the Construction and Urbanization as recommended by the Anti-Corruption Council of Georgia.
However later the government changed decision and maintained the Ministry. Recently established Union of the Georgian Constructors expressed readiness to support the Presidential-backed election alliance in the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
The new Minister pledged at the Parliamentary session today to elaborate a new draft law, which would restrain illegal constructions in capital city of Tbilisi.
Teimuraz Charkviani is the founder of the construction company “Tbilisi,” which participates in the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
