Burjanadze Urged in vain MPs to Cease the Hunger Strike

(Tbilisi, July 25, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze met with the five MPs from the opposition National Movement and called them to cease the hunger strike.

MPs went on hunger strike on July 16 demanding from the government to repay pension backlog.

The hunger strikers say that they will not cease the protest until the government repays the pensioners debt.

This was the second meeting of Nino Burjanadze with the hunger strikers. The doctors say that the state of health of MPs is deteriorating.
