US European Command Chief Visits Georgia

(Tbilisi, August 10, 2003, Civil Georgia) – General James L. Jones, Commander of the US European Command arrived for a one-day visit to Georgia on August 10, the US embassy in Tbilisi reported.

US General visited Georgia Train-and-Equip Program (GTEP) training center at Krtsanisi, near Tbilisi and held talks with Georgian Defense Minister Davit Tevzadze.

Implementation of the GTEP and further prolongation of the US-funded program for the Georgian troops was on the top of the agenda during the talks.

Ambassador Alessandro Minuto-Rizzo, NATO Deputy Secretary General accompanied General Jones during his !
visit in Georgia.
