(Tbilisi, August 11, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Parliamentary Chairperson, Nino Burjanadze, met with representatives of the human rights advocacy NGO Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) today to discuss her election program, which she introduced on August 8.
Despite the GYLA’s claims that Burjanadze’s program did not emphasize such vital issues as human rights and the creation of a constitutional state, Nino Burjanadze and GYLA members agreed on further cooperation.
“Since the principles included in my election program basical!
ly coincided with those submitted by GYLA, this gives hope for our active cooperation around these principles in future,” the Parliamentary Chairman said after the meeting.
Restoration of territorial integrity, overcoming the economic crisis and
strengthening democratic values are the main principles of Burjanadze’s election program.
