Russian Diplomat Attacked in Tbilisi

(Tbilisi, August 12, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Alexander Valyukh, the First Secretary of the Russian Embassy to Georgia, was attacked in Tbilisi last night.

Police say several unidentified persons tried to rob him in his own car and hit him with the rifle.

However, the Russian diplomat resisted against the criminals, who left him and disappeared. Reportedly, Valyukh’s injuries are not serious.
