Opposition, Pro-Presidential Parties Clash in Western Georgia
(Tbilisi, August 17, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Activists of the pro-presidential election alliance clashed with the opposition National Movement party today in western Georgian town of Zugdidi, as the pro-presidential parties tried in vain to obstruct the opposition party to hold a meeting in the town.
Mikheil Saakashvili, leader of the National Movement and the chairman of Tbilisi City Council met the local population in Zugdidi and held a protest rally in the town.
