National Movement, Revival Activists Clash in Tbilisi
(Tbilisi, August 20, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Members of the National Movement opposition party and the Revival Union, backed by the Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze, clashed today in the center of Tbilisi.
The Revival Union was holding a protest rally in front of the Tbilisi City Council protesting against Mikheil Saakashvili, the Chairman of Tbilisi City Council and leader of National Movement party.
The Revival?s meeting grew into the fist fighting between its members and supporters of the National Movement.
This is the third case of clash between the political parties this month. On!
August 16 activists of the pro-presidential election alliance clashed with the National Movement party in western Georgian town of Zugdidi.
Dozens were injured as a result of fist fighting between the members of Monarchist and Labor parties in Tbilisi on August 4.
