IAEA Assists Georgia in Detecting Radioactive Sources

(Tbilisi, August 27, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will assist Georgia in detecting radioactive sources in the country by installing special equipment at customs check-points.

The agreement was reached during a three-day visit of the IAEA delegation to Georgia on August 25-27.

The Georgian Ministry of Environment reports that in the near future the special equipment for detecting radioactive sources will be handed over to the Ministry of State Security.
