President Blames Government, Opposition for Mess in Voter Lists

President Shevardnadze said in his Monday radiobroadcast, “the government, as well as its opponents, is to be blamed for inaccuracy in the voter lists.”

According to the opposition parties, there are up to 600,000 more voters in the lists, while approximately 30% of eligible voters are not included in the voter lists. The opposition claims that authorities deliberately composed inaccurate lists in order to rig the November 2 ballot. 

President Shevardnadze called on the opposition parties to meet and discuss the problem solution.
