Opposition Protests Dismissal of Chairmen of Polling Stations in Kutaisi

The representatives of opposition parties held a protest rally in a western Georgian city of Kutaisi on October 28 against the dismissal of 18 chairmen of precinct election commissions.

The participants of the rally claimed the authorities dismissed those chairmen, who were not loyal to the government.

Later Nino Burjanadze, leader of the Burjanadze-Democrats election bloc and Parliamentary Chairperson, joined the rally. Nino Burjanadze runs for MP in Kutaisi single-mandate constituency.

“This may trigger trials and consequently paralyze the work of polling stations. All these will create serious danger to holding normal elections in Kutaisi,” Nino Burjanadze said.
