Interior Minister: Police “to Use Force if Necessary”

Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili said the law-enforcement agencies will use force against the opposition’s protest rally in case of emergency.

“We will use force if it becomes necessary. Law should be observed in the country,” the Interior Minister said before the special meeting with Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze on November 5.

Georgian Prosecutor General Nugzar Gabrichidze shares his opinion.

“If the law is violated, we will take relevant measures. Any person, who violates the law, will be punished,” Gabrichidze said.

Mayor of Tbilisi Vano Zodelava also condemns the opposition rally, saying that he is against destabilization in the country.

“We will not admit destabilization in the country. I call on the opposition leaders to avoid destabilization and maintain order in Georgia,” Zodelava said on November 5.
