Rustavi Mayor Joins Protesters

Merab Tkeshelashvili, the Mayor of Rustavi, city near Tbilisi, said that the elections were “falsified and the demands of the protesters in Tbilisi are absolutely fair.”

“Elections in Rustavi were totally falsified and the city joins the protest rally in Tbilisi, which is absolutely fair,” the Rustavi Mayor said.

Protesters in front of the Parliamentary building demand cancellation of the November 2 parliamentary election results and resignation of President Shevardnadze.

Two governmental parties – the Shevardnadze For New Georgia and Revival Union, led by Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze lead the polls.
