CoE, OSCE: Election Violations a Setback for Democracy in Georgia

Meeting on 5 November in Chisinau, Moldova, the Secretaries General of the Council of Europe and OSCE, Walter Schwimmer and Jan Kubis, stressed that, despite considerable pre-electoral assistance, the election process in Georgia did not meet international standards due to an apparent lack of political will.

The officials called for joint actions by the Council of Europe, OSCE and EU to advance the commitment for credible elections in Georgia.

As the Council of Europe reports, the similar assessment was given to the recent electoral process in Armenia and Azerbaijan.
