Abashidze Threatens with Closing Adjara’s Borders
Leader of the Adjara Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze said he will close borders with the rest of Georgia, if the situation aggravates in the country.
“If the recent developments in Georgia trigger new cataclysms or civil war, the Adjara Autonomous Republic will have no choice but to close its borders to maintain order in Adjara,” Abashidze said.
The supporters of Aslan Abashidze and President Shevardnadze are rallying against the opposition in front of the Parliament building in Tbilisi, while the opposition leaders are in western Georgia to organize a peaceful march on Tbilisi, particularly on the President’s office to demand Shevardnadze’s resignation.
