UN Urges Restraint amid Georgia’s Political Tensions
United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan called on the political leaders of Georgia to do their utmost to peacefully resolve the country’s current tensions.
The statement issued in New York on November 21 reads, that the Secretary-General “has been following with interest and concerns” developments in Georgia since it staged parliamentary elections on 2 November.
The statement said Mr. Annan hoped that demonstrations “will remain peaceful and that all concerned will exercise maximum restraint.”
