Burjanadze Becomes Acting President

Nino Burjanadze, Chairperson of the outgoing Parliament becomes, an acting President of Georgia, became acting President, as Eduard Shevardnadze quit the post, amid mass protest rallies.

According to the Georgian Constitution acting President has to hold new presidential election within 45 days after the President resigns.

The power of the acting President is very limited. Acting President has no right to reshuffle the government.
