Putin Hopes for Cooperation with New Authorities of Georgia

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed concern that “the power transfer in Georgia occurred as a result of strong pressure.”

“Those, who organize and encourage such actions, assume huge responsibility before their people,” Putin said at the government session on November 24, adding that Shevardnadze “never had been a dictator.”

The Russian President hopes that “future, legally elected authorities of Georgia will do its best to establish good neighbor relations between Russia and Georgia.”
