MPs Appeal Court to Annul Single-Mandate Election Results
57 members of the acting Parliament appealed the Constitutional Court demanding cancellation of November 2 parliamentary election results in the single-mandate constituencies.
Up to 60 single-mandate candidates were elected on November 2 parliamentary elections, while runoff elections will are scheduled in remaining 15 single-mandate constituencies for January 4.
The Supreme Court canceled the November 2 parliamentary elections under the proportional, party-list system because of the numerous violations during the vote count that led to result manipulations.
The date for new parliamentary elections has not been set yet. Interim President Nino Burjanadze said she wants to hold elections simultaneously with the presidential elections on January 4.
