Burjanadze Left for Talks with Abashidze

Interim President of Georgia Nino Burjanadze left for Adjara Autonomous Republic today to hold talks with Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze.

Nino Burjanadze will try to convince him not to boycott the January 4 snap presidential elections.?

Recently Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze demanded the central authorities of Georgia to hold the presidential and parliamentary elections in June, 2004. Otherwise, he threatened with boycotting the elections.

Abashidze added that Georgia is not ready for holding the presidential elections on January 4.

It is anticipated that Russia?s decision to simplify visa regime for the population of Adjara will also be discussed during the talks.
