President of Football Federation Arrested

Former President of the Georgian Football Federation Merab Zhordania was arrested this morning in Tbilisi airport on charges of illegal crossing the border.

“Merab Zhordania is at the moment in the Interior Ministry for interrogation,” Irakli Kodua, acting spokesman of the Interior Ministry told Civil Georgia.

Merab Zhordania was allegedly trying to flee Georgia after the General Prosecutor’s Office announced earlier that Merab Zhordania was suspected in tax evasion and illegal financial transactions.
