Saakashvili Declines to Move to the Governmental Residence

A front runner in the presidential race Mikheil Saakashvili rejected today a possibility of moving to the governmental residence for security reasons.

On December 11, National Security Council of Georgia decided to increase security measures for Saakashvili. “We consider asking Saakashvili to move to one of the governmental residences, where he will be more secure,” Jemal Gakhokidze, acting Secretary of the National Security Council said.

“I am not going to move to the governmental residence even if I am elected President. My family will live in an ordinary apartment in Tbilisi,” Mikheil Saakashvili told reporters on December 12.

Acting Secretary of the National Security Council told the reporters that the information was available regarding the possible attack on Saakashvili.
