Criminal Charges Filed Against ex-Railway Chief

The Interior Ministry filed the criminal charges against Akaki Chkhaidze, former chief of the state-owned Georgian Railway company, for tax evasion.

Akaki Chkhaidze also was the leader of the Great Silk Road political movement, which was the member of the Shevardnadzeā€™s bloc on the eve of the fraudulent November 2 parliamentary elections.

Akaki Chkhaidze in the interview to the Tbilisi-based Mze (the Sun) television dismissed accusations as ā€œgroundlessā€ and said that the new leadership of the country ā€œis mounting political pressureā€ on him.
