Criminal Charges Filed Against ex-Railway Chief

The Interior Ministry filed the criminal charges against Akaki Chkhaidze, former chief of the state-owned Georgian Railway company, for tax evasion.

Akaki Chkhaidze also was the leader of the Great Silk Road political movement, which was the member of the Shevardnadze’s bloc on the eve of the fraudulent November 2 parliamentary elections.

Akaki Chkhaidze in the interview to the Tbilisi-based Mze (the Sun) television dismissed accusations as “groundless” and said that the new leadership of the country “is mounting political pressure” on him.
