Traditionalists, National-Democratic Parties Unite
The Traditionalists and National-Democratic parties will announce today that they create a bloc to form a rightist movement, which will contest the current authorities in the parliamentary elections.
Akaki Asatiani, the leader of the Traditionalists party told Civil Georgia earlier that he also holds “consultations with the New Rights party.”
“If we manage to unite before the parliamentary elections, be sure, this will be a strong, rightist union, which will really gain success during the parliamentary elections,” he added.
Leader of the Traditionalists party Akaki Asatiani was beside the “velvet revolution” leaders – Nino Burjanadze, Zurab Zhvania and Mikheil Saakashvili to ouster Eduard Shevardnadze; however he opposed them after Nino Burjanadze and Zurab Zhvania announced that they will support Mikheil Saakashvili in January 4 presidential elections.
Irina Sarishvili-Chanturia, who joined the Shevardnadze”s bloc on the eve of the November 2 parliamentary elections, led the National-Democratic party for last decade.
However, she was dismissed from the party”s chairmanship post after the bloodless revolution.
