Burjanadze Hopes Adjara will Participate in Elections

Interim President Nino Burjanadze expressed hope that the presidential elections will be held in Adjara Autonomous Republic on January 4.

“I hope, Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze will be constructive towards this issue and positively settle the problem. We continue talks with him,” Nino Burjanadze told reporters upon her arrival in Moscow on December 24.

The Interim President, as well as State Minister Zurab Zhvania, has already held talks with the Adjarian leader, who threatens with boycotting the presidential elections; however the meetings yielded no results.
