Abashidze Cast Ballot
Leader of the Adjara Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze cast his ballot just 15 minutes before the polls were closed, however earlier he said that his party – the Revival Union would boycott the presidential elections.
“We need a unity and that is why I came here,” Aslan Abashidze told reporters at the polling station in Batumi, Adjarian capital.
He said that the new President should not “carry out the policy of confrontation, like the previous authorities did.”
Aslan Abashidze agreed to open the polling stations in Adjara after the international pressure and increasing protest of the local population of Adjara.
