Parallel Vote Tabulation Suggests 96% of Votes for Saakashvili
The parallel vote tabulation (PVT) results, conducted by the election observer NGO International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy, show that Mikheil Saakashvili received 96,41% of votes in Sunday’s snap presidential polls.
This is more than suggested by the exit polls, according to which Saakashvili secured 85,6% of support.
According to the PVT, other candidates running for the presidency received less then 2% each.
Temur Shashiashvili, who governed Imereti region during Shevardnadze’s presidency, received 1,93%; Roin Liparteliani – 0,24%; Zaza Sikharulidze – 0,22%; Kartlos Gharibashvili – 0,16%; Zurab Kelekhsashvili, who announced on the eve of elections that he pull out from the presidential race – 0,07. 0,32% voted against all the candidates.
