Kmara Activists and Their Family Members Detained in Adjara

At least two members of the Kmara (Enough) youth movement, including their family members were detained in Adjara Autonomous Republic late on January 6.

Reports say that the exact number of arrested persons is not known yet.

The Interior Ministry of the Adjara Autonomous Republic issued a statement that the police have found drugs and explosives in the apartments of Khazhomia and Chkhartishvili families. However, the relatives of the detainees deny allegations.

During the recent days, the Kmara movement started to post banners in the streets of the Adjarian capital Batumi with the slogans “Enough to Abashidze’s Dictatorship.”
