Bush, Powell Congratulated Saakashvili on Presidency
President-elect Mikheil Saakashvili today held separate telephone conversations with U.S. President George Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell.
Georgian President’s spokesman Giorgi Arveladze said George Bush and Colin Powell “congratulated Saakashvili on his victory in the January 4 snap presidential elections and wished him success.”
The U.S. President said he pins great hopes on the new leadership of Georgia, adding that the United States is ready to render any type of assistance to Georgia, including in the security issues.
President Bush invited Georgian president-elect to visit the United States.
