Georgian Football Federation Chief Released

President of the Georgian Football Federation Merab Zhordania was released today. Merab Zhordania was arrested on December 12 with misappropriation charges. The court sentenced him to three-month pre-trial detention.

The Football Federation Chief was released after he paid 742 thousand Lari (up to USD 340,000) to the state budget, the sum which Zhordania allegedly misappropriated.

The General Prosecutor’s Office is now investigating another case of misappropriation in the Football Federation, which is also allegedly linked to Merab Zhordania.
