BP Allocates $1 ml to Assist IDPs

Georgian Finance Minister Zurab Noghaideli and the representatives of the British Petroleum (BP) company signed an agreement today, under which BP will allocate $1 million to assist internally displaced persons in Georgia.
 
The funds will be directed to pay tax on electricity, consumed by the displaced persons.
 
Under the agreement, the funds will be transferred to the special account of the National Bank of Georgia. The Georgian Government is to submit detailed information about the expenditure of allocated funds at least once a month.

BP leads the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline project, which will carry Azerbaijani oil to the western markets via Georgia and Turkey.
