MoD to Cut Down Staff, Army
Newly appointed Defense Minister of Georgia Gela Bezhuashvili said at a news briefing on February 20 that structural reforms will be implemented at the Ministry of Defense (MoD).
According to the structural reforms, number of the Defense Ministry?s staff will be reduced from 500 to 200 persons. Structural reforms will also be carried out in the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces.
Gela Bezhuashvili also said, that Army will be reduced from 20,000 to 15,000 servicemen and those dismissed from the Georgian army will receive compensations, as implied by the legislation of Georgia.
