President Saakashvili said after casting a vote in Tbilisi that there are some violations, but elections are held in “a calm and normal” condition.

“These elections are of vital importance for Georgia. We want to set standards of free and fair elections. I call on each voter to go to the polling stations and cast ballot,” Mikheil Saakashvili told reporters.

He also said that elections are held in a calm atmosphere in Adjarian Autonomy as well.

“However, the local opposition fears of violence by the end of the elections day. There is a certain risk of violence,” Saakashvili said.

“But we hope that the violence, which took place in Adjara during the pre-election period will not be replicated on the elections day,” he added.

Saakashvili said that he is satisfied with the election process, but is not “happy that my wife can not cast ballot.” Georgia’s first lady Sandra Roelofs is the citizen of Netherlands.
