Elections Hampered in Kodori
President’s Representative to the Kodori gorge Emzar Kvitsiani said today, it is impossible to provide the polling stations in Kodori with ballot papers due to heavy weather conditions in this high mountainous gorge, which is the only territory in breakaway Abkhazia under the Georgia’s central authorities’ control.
“Everything is ready for delivering ballot papers to the gorge, however we fail due to bad weather,” Emzar Kvitsiani said.
“The fact that ballot papers were not delivered to Kodori due to weather conditions, does not mean that the elections were disrupted in the gorge,” Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Zurab Tchiaberashvili said at a news briefing on March 28.
He added the commission will take decision over holding elections in Kodori at the session on March 29.
