Parallel Vote Tabulation Says Two Parties Secured Seats in Parliament

The election observer NGO International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), which deployed up to 2,600 observers througout Georgia, published today the results of parallel vote tabulation (PVT) on March 28 parliamentary elections in Georgia.

Below are the results of the PVT:

1. National Movement – Democrats –  67,78%
2. The Rightist Opposition – Industrialists-New Rights – 7,75%
3. The Revival Union – 6,60%
4. The Labor Party  –  6,14%
5. Freedom (Tavisupleba) Movement – 4,72%
6. NDP – Traditionalists –  2,38%
7. Unity –  2,19%

According to the ISFED the margin of error of PVT results might be 0,2-0,5%.

According to the PVT results, only the National Movement-Democrats and the Rightist Opposition managed to clear the 7% threshold necessary to secure seats in the new Parliament.

“The March 28 parliamentary elections can be considered valid. However, high expectations of the Georgian society that these elections would meet the international standards were not justified, since a great number of violations were observed at various polling stations,“ Tamar Zhvania of ISFED said at a news briefing on March 29.

According to the PVT results, voter turnout was 62,62% throughout Georgia.
