Labor Party Leader Met Abashidze

Leader of the Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili, who is in radical opposition to the government, met Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze in Batumi on April 3.

“Labor party wants to open an office in Batumi. This was the main issue discussed with the Adjarian leader. We also discussed March 28 elections, which were totally falsified by the central government and by the authorities of the Autonomous Republic as well,” Shalva Natelashvili told reporters.

He said that defusing tensions between the Autonomy and the central government should be a top priority of the country’s leadership.

“What I’ve seen on my way to Batumi was terrible. The bags filled with sand were installed on the bridges. Adjara looks like a frontline region. Tbilisi and Batumi should do outmost to defuse tensions,” Shalva Natelashvili added.
