CoE Envoy Met Georgian Security Chief to Discuss Adjara Crisis
Special Representative of the Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General in Georgia Plamen Nikolov met with Secretary of the Georgian National Council Vano Merabishvili on April 15 to discuss Adjara crisis.
Plamen Nikolov held series of talks with Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze last week and also attended negotiations between Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania and Aslan Abashidze on April 13.
CoE envoy told that, he welcomes business circles’ efforts to defuse tensions between Tbilisi and Batumi. Representatives of big business, led by influential media and financial tycoon Badri Patarkatsishvili left for Batumi to hold talks with Aslan Abashidze on April 15.
“We welcome any attempt, which will promote the settlement of relations between Tbilisi and Batumi through dialogue,” Plamen Nikolov said on April 15 before the meeting with Secretary of the National Security Council Vano Merabishvili.
