Mediator Businessmen Discussed Adjara with President

Representatives of big business, who took over mediation between the country’s central authorities and Adjarian leadership, met President Saakashvili on April 16 to inform about the recent talks with Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze.


After the meeting with the President, the businessmen said that Mikheil Saakashvili welcomed their involvement in defusing the tension between Tbilisi and Batumi.


“Our mission is not easy. We offer the both sides to avoid further acceleration of tension and settle the crisis through a dialogue,” Mamuka Khazaradze, founder of TBC Group told reporters after the meeting.


A group of Georgian influential businessmen, which held talks with Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze on April 15, plans to visit Adjara again next week.
 
New chairman of the Taxpayers Union of Georgia, media tycoon Badri Patarkatsishvili, who leads the group of mediator businessmen, did not attend the meeting with President Saakashvili. He is visiting Israel and will be back on April 20.
